I am thinking of including an analog system that consists of a vintage mixing board and a professional grade multitrack tape machine at STUDIO 330. I am aquiring a vintage Soundcraft 400B 24 channel/4 bus mixing board that can feed into our digital setup as well as into a possible 8 track 1" tape machine. Why only 1" tape? Because of tape cost: 2" tape is $300 per reel, while 1" is, guess, about half.
But I want Your opinion on this- is there an interest in having access to an analog setup? Drop me a line with your opinion! You can reach me at [email protected].

Hans mastered this double CD and also played cello on one tracks. This CD features the wisdom of davidji and the music of SacredFire, the duo from Vancouver B.C. consisting of MJ Vermette and Dean Richards. (Release date is July 2014). www.sacredfiremusic.com I am currently working on Girish's new CD, mixing and eventually mastering it, to be precise. Girish and I have known each other for a long time- all the way back to the late 1990's when we met in Marin County where we played together in Krishna Das' band. He quickly became my tabla player of choice for recording tablas on RASA's CDs. He just knew how to groove and keep it sparse and transparent at the same time. He, in turn, asked me to co-produce his first CD "Reveal" and work on all subsequent CDs (except Shiva Machine) with him in one capacity or another. A wonderful friendship developed in the process that lasts to this day.
Girish has a really beautiful touch with production. He loves horn sections, pedal steel and slide guitars, and Wurlitzer and Fender Rhodes pianos. He also likes a big background choir and always has THE BEST female singers on the planet: CC White, Donna DeLori, Marti Walker, and many other talented singers. He likes to weave a rich musical tapestry with these elements, and it is my pleasure and delight to actually do that final weaving for him. And he has found his own voice. Now, there are a lot of singers in the chant realm, and many are so very gifted. As a matter of fact, I am working/have worked with many of them. But on this new recording Girish has reached a new realm in his singing that asks to be noticed. There is a calm presence in his singing that aims straight at the heart of the listener, and there is a sphere of honesty and deliverance that goes beyond the familiar. Today I started working on a track called "Radhe Shyam" and the last section of the chant moved me so deeply that I actually had to wipe off a tear or two. It is so very beautiful and expresses a deep yearning for divine mercy. I hope that this new recording will reach many people. It is needed and deserves to be heard throughout the world....
