Mixing & Mastering Services

A lot of the activities at Studio 330 consist of mixing and mastering recording projects. Here are some short descriptions of what this means:

Mixing a recording project
Often our clients send their projects to us after recording in other studios- either in their own home studios, or in commercial facilities. At the end of the recording process, all recorded tracks need to be edited (refined) and properly balanced to yield a good sounding final mix. But what makes a mix great? A lot of factors, including careful listening skills, proper equalisation, dynamics and spatial processing, and an understanding of the music genre that your music is part of. A classical project is certainly completely different from a pop production, both in terms of how it is to be recorded to how it is to be mixed. And how about combining infuences from different genres and still have a "good sound"? That's our specialty.

Mastering
After the mixing is completed, there is one more step- the final master assembly. This step provides the opportunity to increase the gain of the music, as well as the sound of each mix. It is a crucial step to making sure that your recording sounds as good as it can, on any sound system, and on the radio. Mastering is an art of subtlety, and yet it is very important.
